Fusion PhD Event Registration Open Now!

The registration for the Fusion PhD Event at ITER, sponsored by FuseNet, is open now.

It is with great pleasure that the ITER Organisation will be hosting this year's Fusion PhD event at ITER Headquarters from 6 to 9 November 2018. The event, financed by FuseNet, provides a unique opportunity for PhD students to build bridges with other students working in the field of fusion science and engineering.

This year, a PhD event will be held again. The host is ITER Headquarters, in cooperation with CEA.

European Master of Science Nuclear Fusion and Engineering Physics topranked by El Mundo

The spanish newspaper El Mundo has ranked the European Master of Science in Nuclear Fusion and Engineering Physics at the top in the category "Experimental and Technological Sciences".

Call for students for the Student Council

Do you want to give input to FuseNet? Then join the student council!

To date, students are not in any FuseNet committee. To fit the FuseNet activities and strategy to the needs of students, FuseNet sets up a student council. This will be a new body within FuseNet, in which master and Phd students take place, advising the Board of Governors.

Students (Master, PhD) are welcome to apply now.

Fusion Writers ..and Artists …wanted!

Fusion in Europe is calling for aspiring writers and gifted artists!

Are you into fusion? Are you even writing about it? Do futuristic scenarios play a vital role in your artwork? Have you already drawn, sketched or modelled a future powered by fusion? Now, it’s your time to introduce yourself to an international audience!

Call for mini workshops

The FuseNet Association supports the organization of mini-workshops: a typically 2-5 day event with a limited audience (on PhD or master level) that covers a topic that is not widely addressed in summer schools or on another educational activity.

As of now, FuseNet is looking for organisations, companies, research institutes or universities in Europe that want to organize such a mini-workshop. FuseNet has a budget to support two of them. Institutes can claim the actual costs, up to 6k€ each. See the attached document for more details. The call is open from June 11 2018 and runs until August 26 2018.

The workplan 2018 was approved at the seventh General Assembly of FuseNet, that took place at the DIFFER institute in Eindhoven on Feb 6, 2018.

Prof. Ian Chapman to become new CEO of the UK fusion programme

On the 3th of August, Professor Ian Chapman has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA). Starting on the 1st of October, professor Chapman takes over the CEO position of professor Steve Cowley.
