SCK•CEN workshop on Radiation effects and plasma wall interaction

SCK•CEN workshop on Radiation effects and plasma wall interaction

SCK•CEN hosts a two-day workshop on Radiation effects and plasma wall interaction in advanced materials for fusion applications from June 30 to July 1, 2016. This meeting is dedicated to the experimental research in plasma facing materials and development of advanced modeling tools to describe the response of these materials in fusion conditions that are otherwise complex to reproduce by experiments.

The focus of the event will be on R&D in baseline and advanced tungsten-based grades: fabrication and testing, high temperature testing, neutron irradiation effects, modification of microstructure and mechanical properties, engineering and fundamental modelling of radiation effects and retention processes. On the second day, there will be the opportunity to visit VENUS, the Vulcan Experimental Nuclear Study.
