The International Helmholtz Graduate School for Plasma Physics (HEPP) is looking for

PhD candidates in all fields of experimental, numerical and theoretical plasma physics, fusion science and plasma technology.

HEPP is a graduate school for doctoral candidates at the Max-Planck-Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) in Garching and Greifswald, and its partner universities, the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald. Job description

Since HEPP is a continuous program, we are constantly looking for outstanding PhD candidates. Besides a number of smaller scale experiments, IPP offers the opportunity to conduct a PhD project on the tokamak ASDEX Upgrade (in Garching) and the superconducting stellarator Wendelstein 7-X (in Greifswald). In the three years program the PhD candidate has to to take part in subject-related courses (seminars, special lectures, summer/winter academies, etc.). Central to the PhD program, however, is the writing of a doctoral thesis. Also, the candidate is expected to submit at least one article for publication in a reviewed journal or for the proceedings of an international conference with peer-review procedures.
