16th Plasma Edge Theory workshop (PET16)

From the 27th to the 29th of September 2017, the 16th edition of the Plasma Edge Theory workshop will take place in Marseille, France, close to the old port, in the pleasant setting of the Pharo park. The workshop is organised by Aix-Marseille University and the Institute for Research on Magnetic Fusion (IRFM) of CEA Cadarache. Like the preceding workshops, this workshop addresses plasma theory of the edge region in magnetic confinement fusion devices. It will reflect the present status of the theory for the boundary layer of fusion plasmas. The emphasis will be on the development of theory and of appropriate numerical methods, with a secondary interest in self-consistent modelling of experimental data (including also empirical elements). The workshop will consist of invited lectures, oral presentations and poster contributions. Contributed papers will be mainly presented as posters. It is recommended that orally presented papers are also accompanied by a poster.

The following three main topics will be covered by invited and contributed lectures:

  • Basic Edge Plasma Theory
  • Models of Special Phenomena and Edge Control
  • Integrated Edge Plasma Modelling

Contributions to any of the given topics are welcome. Authors are invited to submit one-page abstracts typed on A4 size paper, describing the most important aspects of the work to be reported. Abstracts have to be submitted before the 19th of March. Registration will be possible until the 9th of June, but the registration website has not been opened as of yet. For more information about the workshop, please refer to the event's website.
