The performances of fusion devices and of future fusion power plants strongly depend on the plasma-facing materials and components. Resistance to heat and particle loads, compatibility in plasma operations, thermo-mechanical properties, as well as the response to neutron irradiation are critical parameters which need to be understood and tailored from atomistic to component levels. The 16th International Conference on Plasma-Facing Materials and Components for Fusion Applications which will take place from the 16th to the 19th of May 2017 in Neuss near Düsseldorf, Germany, addresses these issues.
Programme
The scientific programme consists of a number of lectures from invited speakers, as well as oral and poster presentations of submitted work. Among the topics of the joint conference recent developments and research results in the following fields are addressed:

An introductory tutorial course is organised on Monday the 15th of May from 14:00 to 18:00 h for PhD students, PostDocs, and newcomers in the field. The social programme includes a welcome reception, a conference dinner and a guided excursion to Düsseldorf, the capital of Northrhine-Westfalia.
Venue and Registration
The conference will be held in the Zeughaus, a former cloister building in the historic city of Neuss. The conference fee for students is € 325 (early-bird) or € 400 (after the 27th of March).
