FuseNet General Assembly 2018

FuseNet General Assembly 2018

The seventh General Assembly of FuseNet took place at the DIFFER institute in Eindhoven on February 6, 2018. At this meeting, the workplan for 2018 was approved.

During the meeting, two new board members were appointed and special appreciation was given to Prof. Kieran Gibson who's term in the board had ended.

One of the changes that was announced during the meeting, was the intention to include support for Bachelor students, as
a fusion-relevant internship can be a good way to attract talented students to engage in a Master study in fusion.

Also, on overview was presented of the three courses of nuclear training that are new under development by FuseNet as part of the ANNETTE project (Advanced Networking for Nuclear Education and Training and Transfer of Expertise). More information on these 3 courses that aim to fill in part of the gaps in nuclear competence needs that exist in fusion, can be found on the ANNETTE project webpages.

The General Assembly also agreed with the proposed plan to install at student advisory council to ensure the students' input can be directly taken into account when setting up activities for European fusion students.

It was decided that the next edition of the General Assembly meeting will take place in Ghent in 2019. Below you can find an impression of the preparations before the GA and the tour at the DIFFER institute.
