Hands-on Fusion Experiments

The objectives of work package (WP) 7 of FUSENET is to increase the access to existing fusion-related experiments and infrastructure for teaching purposes, and to develop new teaching hardware. Under WP7, a call for proposal was launched in 2010 covering three categories with the aim of making documentation available on existing a hardware (category A), of building new or improving existing teaching hardware (category B), and of running pilot programs whereby hands-on experiments are used for teaching purposes (category C). The original resources allocated of 250 kEuro and 16 ppm were used to finance: one proposal in category A, nine in category B and 2 in category C.

Following the success of the first call for proposal, together with the fact that some additional funding was made available to this WP by reorganization of the financial means within the Project, FUSENET iniated a second call for proposals in categories A-B. Financing was available in the form 7.5 ppm (category A - 0.75 ppm per proposal) and 50 kEuro (category B).

FUSENET has financed calls in two categories:
Category A - make available documentation of existing hardware
Category B - building new or improving existing teaching hardware
