FuseNet is the umbrella-organisation of Fusion Doctoral Networks
Within Europe, there are several Doctoral training networks in the field of fusion. They are listed below with their respective homepages. Whereas these networks is are quite distinct in character, geographical spread and funding structure, there are also strong links between them through FuseNet. To start, they all comply with the joint criteria for the award of the European Fusion doctorate certificate. These criteria introduce a uniform high quality standard that make ‘fusion’ a quality brand apart from a specialization.
A truly joint activity of the networks is the annual Fusenet sponsored European Fusion PhD-event, to which all PhD-students in fusion are invited and which aims at widening their perspective on fusion research as well as stimulating the bonding between the students, as they are the coming generation of fusion researchers.
On the managerial level, all networks are represented in the board of Fusenet, and that is a platform where they compare notes, harmonize programmes and exchange best practices. Thus, FuseNet acts as the umbrella for the different fusion doctoral training networks.
The Fusion doctoral networks are:
• EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in the science and technology of Fusion Energy in the United Kingdom
• European Master in Nuclear Fusion and Engineering Physics Network in Gent, Madrid, Metz/Nancy and Stuttgart
• Joint European Doctoral Network in Lisbon, Munich and Padova
