Fusion Reactor Diagnostics conference held in Varenna

Fusion Reactor Diagnostics conference held in Varenna

"Piero Caldirola" International Centre for the Promotion of Science and ISPP (Italy) organized an International Conference last week on Fusion Reactor Diagnostics.

Big share of young scientists

The conference held at Villa Monastero, Varenna, Italy, was a big succes. Over 80 scientists from all over the world gathered to discuss plasma diagnostics for burning plasmas in general, and plasmas in fusion reactors. Remarkably, the fraction of young scientists was suprisingly high - about one third.

Diagnostics for burning plasmas

The conference presented new concepts of diagnostics for burning plasmas, and discussed the diagnostics solutions for ITER and its related issues. The requirements for diagnostics in DEMO were contemplated, and diagnostics for important subsystems of fusion reactors were also put on the table.
