2014 IPP Summer University for Plasma Physics and Fusion Research

Also in 2014, the Max-Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) organizes its annually returning Summer University on the main aspects of plasma physics with emphasis on nuclear fusion. This year the Summer University is hosted in the IPP research center of Garching, near Munich - Germany. The lectures are designed for physics and engineering students who passed their bachelor courses or just started their PhD. The topics covered in the lectures are:

  • basics of plasma physics and nuclear fusion
  • concepts and experimental results of tokamak and stellarator configurations
  • ITER and the next steps towards a reactor
  • basics of inertial fusion and astrophysical plasmas

Fee
The participation fee is 50 Euro. For students registered at European universities the costs of accommodation, food and social events are covered by IPP. Travel costs are borne by the participants.

Application
Applications must be submitted via internet (see link below) and include a certificate of undergraduate studies (e.g. diploma or bachelor) and a short curriculum vitae (CV).
