FuseNet WorkPlan 2016-2017 - Work Package 6

Work Package 6

Title: Support to PhD students

Goal:

Run a system that supports and facilitates individual PhD students to take part in educational activities external to their own organization: educational training in industry, training in research institutes, participating in master classes, summer schools or workshops, etc.

The primary aim of this action is to provide the PhD students the opportunity access high-level education and training. At the same time, student exchange is an effective way to develop contacts within the network, especially between academia and industry. This programme builds on the experience of the highly successful student mobility action under the FP7 FuseNet project.

The funding scheme for the students will closely follow the rules in similar actions within the Erasmus Plus framework. Note:

  • a similar, dedicated mobility action for Master students is set up to allow them to attend educational events abroad and to carry out part of their project in established fusion research centers. The support for Master students is treated in a separate work package (WP11)
  • we opt for a student-centered scheme. Instead of supporting the organizers of educational activities like summer schools or course, we believe support to students is more effective.

Subtasks:

  • Provide support to PhD students for following educational training activities (courses, summer schools, workshops).
  • Administer this process.

Deliverables:

  • Annual report on overview, procedure and effectiveness of action.

Italic: private deliverable, only available to logged-in FuseNet Board Members.
