Workshop on Radiation Damage in Nuclear Systems

From May 11th to May 22nd, in Trieste, Italy, a Workshop on Radiation Damage in Nuclear Systems: From Bohr To Young is jointly organised by the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). It assists Ph.D. students and early-career researchers in developing a quantitative understanding of the impact of radiation damage on materials, both for existing fission and proposed fusion reactors. There is an emphasis on the conceptual progression of theoretical and experimental techniques across spatial scales from atomistic descriptions to the macroscopic behaviour of bulk material.

Additional information

The event also provides opportunities on networking and knowledge-transfer between researchers from developed and developing countries; the Workshop is organized in collaboration with the IAEA, and financial support for participants from developing countries may be granted. The deadline for participation applications is 14 January 2020. To apply, visit the ICTP website.

More information is available here (link to external website) and on the event poster (external download link). Below, you'll find the subjects treated during the Workshop as well as the confirmed lecturers.
