Privacy statement

The FuseNet Association is an independent legal entity that was founded to provide a platform for the coordination of European fusion education activities. The FuseNet Association (hereafter: FuseNet) is responsible for the processing of personal data as described in this privacy statement.

Personal data that FuseNet processes

FuseNet processes your personal data because you use our services and/or because you provide these data yourself. Depending on the service, FuseNet may ask you to provide:

  • First and last name
  • Nationality
  • Gender
  • Date of birth
  • Postal address
  • Email address
  • Bank account number
  • Education or employment details

FuseNet might also ask you to provide contact details of a third party, e.g. a supervisor or host institution contact. Never disclose these details without consent of the involved third party.

FuseNet does not intend to collect personal data from website visitors under the age of 16 without approval from their parent or guardian. However, FuseNet cannot always ascertain the age of website visitors. If you are convinced that FuseNet has collected personal data of a person under 16, please contact us at privacy@fusenet.eu immediately so that we can remove these personal data.

Why FuseNet processes your personal data

FuseNet processes your personal data to:

  • Allow you to register a user account
  • Handle funding support
  • Email you in case this is necessary to provide our services
  • Allow you to register for events

Goals and legal grounds of collecting personal data

FuseNet only stores your personal data for as long as is necessary to achieve the goals for which they were collected (see: Why FuseNet processes your personal data) or to comply with legal and auditory requirements.

Sharing of personal data with third parties

Your personal data will not be used for commercial purposes. These will neither be put at the disposal of third parties, except when law forces us to do this or when our agreement with you demands so. For example, in the course of a funding application, FuseNet will have to verify your stay with your local supervisor.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone when you first visit the FuseNet website. The FuseNet website only uses technical, functional or analytical cookies that do not infringe on your privacy. These cookies are necessary for the technical functioning of the FuseNet website, your ease of use, e.g. allowing you to remain logged in across multiple session, and to allow for the optimisation of the FuseNet website. You can opt out of these cookies by changing the settings of your web browser, such that the browser no longer stores cookies. You can also remove all previously stored cookies this way.

Accessing, rectifying or erasing your data

You have the right to access, rectify or erase your personal data. Furthermore, you have the right to rescind your permission for FuseNet to process your personal data. You also have the right to data portability, meaning that you can request that FuseNet send your personal data to yourself or to another organisation that you have named.

You can send a request regarding access, rectification, erasure, data portability, rescinding of your permission or objection to the processing of your personal data to privacy@fusenet.eu.

To ascertain that the request has been made by you, FuseNet asks that you send a copy of your passport along with the request. Please edit out your photo, MRZ (machine-readable zone, the strip with numbers on the bottom of the passport) and social security numbers, so that these are no longer readable. This is to protect your privacy.

Safeguarding your personal data

FuseNet takes safeguarding your information seriously and takes fitting precautions to prevent abuse, loss, unauthorised access, unintended publication or unauthorised alterations. If you have the impression that your personal data are not adequately safeguarded or in case of abuse of your personal data, please contact us at privacy@fusenet.eu.

Changes in the privacy statement

We reserve the right to update this privacy statement from time to time. Please review this privacy statement periodically for changes. If you do not accept the amended privacy statement, please stop using this website.
