Highlights of 5 year solar observation

On February 11, 2015, NASA's telescope Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) was in space for 5 years. To celebrate this milestone, NASA has put two spectacular movies online that show in detail the amazing beauty of our sun. It provides incredible detailed images of the most amazing fusion reactor 24 hours a day.

The first movie shows a timelapse of the past 5 years, in which different colors represent the different wavelengths of electromagnetic radiation given off by the sun.

The second movie shows the most spectacular images that SDO has captured: it shows how the surface and corona of the sun are continuously moving, and exhibit enormous explotions, solar spots, in an environment of constantly changing magnetic fields and temperatures.
